New Star Wars Outlaws creative director shares details on game’s ‘biggest update yet’ XYZ

Ubisoft has shared details about Star Wars Outlaws’ next major patch.

Billed as the game’s “biggest update” yet, it will make improvements to combat, stealth and character controls.

That’s according to Ubisoft Massive’s Drew Rechner, who has recently taken on the role of Star Wars Outlaws creative director, replacing Julian Gerighty, who has switched his focus to The Division 3.

“The first key area of improvement to the game is combat where we see a real opportunity to add more depth and excitement to the experience, further rewarding your tactics and precision,” he said in the first of a series of planned developer updates.

“Our second key area is stealth which is not only about improving the readability and consistency of enemy detection, but also providing choice in how you want to approach each encounter.

“Finally, our third key area of focus is centered around the character controls, which means improving the reliability of cover, increasing the responsiveness of climbing and crouching, and generally improving the consistency of the controls overall.”

Star Wars Outlaws Title Update 1.4 will arrive on November 21, alongside the game’s Steam release and the launch of its first story DLC, Wild Card.

Ubisoft announced in September that it was working on a series of updates designed to get the game into better shape in time for the holiday season.

It also said its decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows from this November to February 2025 was influenced by the poor reception to Star Wars Outlaws, which wasn’t as polished as it should have been and has underperformed commercially.
